About The Gold Pony

Welcome to The Gold Pony blog. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and created The Gold Pony blog to help educate the public on both economic & social issues. Many think there are only two political parties in the United States. However, after being a Republican for many years I now know that Republicans are often as liberal and sometimes as socialist as the Democrats. I now find myself voting 99% of the time with Libertarians. The basic philosophy of the Libertarian party is "To Each Their Own." I am not going to force my beliefs and values onto you but rather I am going to stand up for your right to have your own beliefs and values. The antithesis of Libertarianism is not government but rather the use of force! Does anyone really want to be forced to do something against their will? The two main parties rationalize the use of force and pretend that if their cause helps some then it is okay if it hurts others.

The Democrats cannot stand economic liberties. They are always calling on higher taxes and additional government debt in order to provide "free" products and services to the less fortunate. The Democrats rely on the less fortunate to become dependent upon the government and in turn the less fortunate remain less fortunate for the remainder of their lives.

The Republicans cannot stand civil liberties. Although two gay individuals getting married does not affect them in the least bit they are still going to fight to make/keep it illegal. The Republicans are also known to be war mongers. They know that the United States is $17 Trillion in debt but to cut military spending would be a sin. The United States has 662 bases outside the U.S. and is currently occupying 148 different countries. Excessive?

I say as long as you're not hurting someone else against their will than you should have the freedom to do as you please. Freedom is the answer & the Libertarian Party is now the only party that provides that with the exception of only a few Republicans. According to the Libertarian Party website, "The Libertarian way is a logically consistent approach to politics based on the moral principle of self-ownership. Each individual has the right to control his or her own body, action, speech, and property. Government's only role is to help individuals defend themselves from force and fraud."
